The First Rule of Glue Guns

Gluegun

Any time a child approaches a hot glue gun, you should ask them if they know what the first thing to do is if they get glue on their skin. Common replies: Tell an adult, Run it under cold water, Scream.

The correct answer is to take the glue off of your skin immediately.

Point out that if you accidentally touch a hot stove, your hand automatically jumps away from it and waves around, but if you get glue on your hand, waving your hand doesn’t get it away from the hot glue. Even if it means touching the glue with your other fingers, the best course of action is to pull and rub the glue off your hands right away. They’ll be surprised how, if you do this immediately, it will stop hurting right away and often not need any additional attention.

Reinforce this first rule of glue guns every chance you get. This will cut down on glue gun burns dramatically.
